New guidance on data security in education is due to be published during August from Becta. Following a review set up by Government in response to the high profile losses of personal and sensitive information, a report was published by the Cabinet Office on 25 June 2008.
The guidance is expected to cover • Impact levels, labeling and remote access best practices • Encryption best practices • Audit logging best practices • Acceptable use policy best practices • Operational processes best practice School leaders should urgently ask their support providers for advice on appropriate levels of encryption of data if it has to leave the premises. The Tenet Directory is due to launch very soon, any suppliers wishing to be listed should contact Tenet as soon as possible, because listings will be presented in date order.
The first companies entry in each section to be agreed and published will appear at the top of the list, followed by the second and so on.
Suppliers can contact any of the Tenet team for more information on how to become listed. |
Tenet Education Services Ltd. Have decided to add a directory of Education Industry suppliers to their website.
Colleges, Schools, Academies and Universties will be encouraged to use the directory as a first step when looking to identify a new supplier.

Jamie Oliver launched a high-profile campaign to improve school food
School meals might be becoming healthier, but there are warnings from nutritionists that too many pupils are still buying junk food in local shops.
A study in two secondary schools found that 41% of pupils did not ever use the school canteen - and only 6% chose the hot lunch option.
In contrast, 80% of pupils bought food from local shops.
The study of eating habits was carried out by the Nutrition Policy Unit of London Metropolitan University.
In the wake of the warnings by chef Jamie Oliver, there have been efforts to provide healthier food in school canteens in England.
